61-year-old farmer dies after calf attack

A 61-year-old farmer who was seriously injured in August after being attacked by a nearly-grown calf has died from his injuries.
According to a report in the daily Salzburger Nachrichten, the farmer from Pöndorf in the District of Vöcklabruck died from severe head injuries on Tuesday. On August 21st, the farmer was crushed against an iron railing when the 650-kilogram animal lunged at him. His wife administered first aid until a local doctor arrived with an ambulance. The man was flown to the Christian-Doppler clinic in Salzburg, however doctors were unable to save his life. Another farmer working in his stall was killed by a steer in mid-August, about two weeks after a herd of cows attacked and killed a German woman hiking through their pasture in Tyrol province.
