A reader of The Local from Sweden, Joergen D., spent Friday night and Saturday morning visiting with a large group of refugees waiting near the border of Serbia and Croatia. He and his family spent the past 10 days volunteering in Hungary and Austria, and wanted to help some of the many refugees in the Balkans.
He writes: “[We were] on the border crossing between Jamena and Strošinci. [The pictures] show refugees waiting in thick smoke from fires to keep warm yesterday evening when the border was closed. And today early around 7:00 am when they were moving towards the Croatian border in hopes they would open up.”
