Austria’s government is searching for new ways to measure integration. But what does that mean for those of us who call this country home? We’re interested in your perspective.

Integration is a major issue in Austrian politics. The discussion invariably revolves around learning the language, finding employment, getting to know the local ways and of course respecting the so-called 'Austrian values'.

Now the government is working on an 'integration map' which will use things like employment, education and language skills to show which areas are working well in terms of integration and which areas might benefit from more support.

But integration isn’t always something you can pin down with statistics or official checklists. Is it about speaking fluent German, making friends, or picking up local habits? Maybe it’s just about feeling at home. And can you really be integrated if you’re not fully accepted?

We'd like to know what integration means to you. Do you feel at home in Austria? What do you feel helps you to belong and what makes you feel like you're on the outside?

Share your thoughts in the short survey below. We may feature some responses in an upcoming article on what integration looks like for international residents in Austria. If the form does not work, you can click HERE to access the survey.
