Austria Post stops accepting UK-bound mail

Austria Post has said it will no longer accept letters and parcels being sent to the United Kingdom, due to the suspension of air and truck freight services.
The decision was handed down late on Monday, a day after Austria - along with a range of other European countries - banned arrivals from the UK due to a new strain of coronavirus believed to be circulating in the country.
According to Kronen Zeitung, “there is currently no way to deliver shipments” to the UK.
While this will apply to anyone hoping to send letters or parcels in the coming days, it is also expected to affect shipments posted over the weekend, reports Die Presse.
In addition to the suspension of flights, the Eurotunnel is closed and is expected to stay that way until at least Thursday.
France has closed its borders to the UK, preventing all trucks and freight services from entering the country.
In addition to the UK, Germany’s Deutsche Post has stopped sending parcels to Ireland - however a spokesperson from Austria Post told Die Presse that this is not the case for parcels sent from Austria.
