Vienna has added a new location to its drive-in coronavirus testing scheme.

The third testing site will be based at the Austria Centre in Danube City and will open up on December 1st.

"The test road at the Austria Centre will be by the parking decks and on the forecourt," a spokesman for City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) confirmed to the APA.

In addition to the Austria Centre testing facility, Vienna is looking into a fourth location which will be "in the west or the south of the city", Kurier reports.

"Whichever location it is will be decided in the next few days."

The Austria Centre location will be better protected from the elements.

The two existing drive-in testing centres are at Ernst Happel Stadium and off the Floridsdorfer Brücke on Donau Island.

The fourth site is expected to replace one of the existing two sites, although this has not been confirmed.

The testing facilities at the Stadium are for people who may not have symptoms but who have been in contact with someone with coronavirus recently or who have travelled recently (whether in Austria or abroad).

The facilities on Donau Island are for people who are showing mild symptoms. Anyone with symptoms is encouraged to call 1450 beforehand to see if a test is necessary.
