Trans woman accepted by colleagues and family

Klaus had been the Financial Director at the regional hospital in the Austrian town of Scheibbs in the state of Lower Austria for years until now when staff were informed that 47-year-old Director Klaus Watzinger was being replaced by 47-year-old Director Klaudia Watzinger.
Klaudia said: "Already as a child I always wanted to dress up as a girl. But out of fear of intolerance, I supressed the urge and went on living as a man."
From an early age Klaus slipped into his unwanted role as a male. He completed his business studies at the University of Linz, married and became the proud father of two children.
In 2001, Klaus took the over the position of Financial Director of the regional hospital in Schneibbs.
Klaudia said: "I went through years when I could not be myself and became depressed and hit a personal low, at one point though the suffering simply became too great, and I realised I had to do something."
After discussing it with his family, friends and colleagues, Klaus went away forever, and a day later Klaudia arrived at work.
She said: "I could have never imagined previously doing this and certainly not talking to the media.

But after her outing in a local newspaper she said she had been flooded with messages of support, before finally agreeing to do an interview.
She said: "My decision to live as a woman was the right one. Transsexuals should not be afraid."
