The test closures including checks on people coming in and going out of the country were carried out on Tuesday by both police and border control officials.
An official spokesman confirmed that the theme of the exercise centred around: "The reintroduction of controls on the border with Austria in connection with the arrival of a large number of migrants."
The operation code-named "Vlna" ("Wave") was carried out on the borders with Austria at key locations and according to police spokesman Jozef Bocan included patrols on so-called green areas of the border where woodlands and fields were being monitored.
The Czech president Milos Zeman has taken a tough line on the refugee crisis since the beginning, with his latest proposal being that Greece agrees to open up an island for refugees as a way of paying off its substantial debt to the international community.
He wants refugees that have made it into the EU to also be sent here.
He added: "This is an original idea that kills two birds with one stone. It means, we stop the flood of illegal immigrants into the EU, and also at the same time we solve the problem of how to deport the people that already here back to somewhere with a basic level of civilisation."
