The Alliance For Nature group has been fighting plans to build a railway, including a huge tunnel in Semmering, south of Vienna, claiming it will destroy the area where it is located and also have other negative impacts on the natural water balance of the region.

In order to draw attention to the bid to stop the project, the burlesque dancer Michaela Wolf who performs under the name Wendy Night agreed to strip off and have pictures taken with the huge construction works in the background to show how much damage is being done.

She also wanted to highlight the fact that despite the Austrian constitutional court having ruled that it was "questionable" that planners had decided to overrule the local nature protection rules, the building is still going ahead.

She said that her 'Natural Beauty for Natural Beauty protest' was to get international attention, saying: "They are carrying on building despite a High Court’s decision. It simply cannot be."

"I hope to give the naked truth about this in order to stop it," she added.

The region also has UNESCO status which the alliance claims was completely ignored, as well as the fact that around 38 million litres of water will flow out of the mountain once the drilling is complete, devastating the local water table.
