Man in critical condition after Vienna stabbing
A man is in a critical condition in hospital in Vienna after being stabbed on Tuesday evening in Meidling.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was attacked by a 30-year-old man in Schedifkaplatz. "The victim has multiple serious stab wounds on his upper body," police spokesman Thomas Keiblinger said. “The attacker and his female companion fled the scene,” he added.
Two witnesses told police that they saw the man being attacked at around 7.45pm by a man with a blonde Mohawk hairstyle, of average height. The victim was previously seen arguing with his attacker.
After the attack the man and a woman were seen walking towards the Philadelphiabrücke metro station. The woman was described as in her mid-20s, slim and with long, black hair.
Medics said the victim had injuries to his spleen, chest and shoulder area. He is currently in intensive care.
Police are examining surveillance footage from cameras at underground train stations.
