Stadthalle 'wing' award for Conchita

Austria’s bearded drag queen and Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst needs to make space on her trophy shelf - she’s just been awarded the first ever "Wiener Stadthalle Flügel" award.
The 'wing' sculpture, made of plexiglass and aluminium, resembles the roof of Vienna’s Stadthalle - which hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in May, thanks to Conchita’s win in Denmark in 2014.
Stadthalle boss Wolfgang Fischer said the award had been created to honour those "who have contributed to the success of the Wiener Stadthalle". It was designed by Vienna-based artist Tomas Eller.
Conchita said that she was honoured to be the first person to be awarded such an important prize and that she felt “proud to have contributed to the fact that the world has focussed its attention on Vienna”.
