Austrian police have released a surveillance picture of a man suspected of breaking in to a number of houses in Vienna, and stealing valuables including expensive bicycles.

Over a period of several days during summer last year, the man is believed to have stolen thousands of euros worth of expensive items, including bicycles.

One of the property owners had a surveillance camera, which captured the man in the act of taking a selfie, shortly before he broke into the basement of the house.

According to a police spokesman, "We believe he is lying low at the moment and if he's a foreigner he may have already left the country because the image is certainly pretty clear, and we're confident someone must know him."

"We are hoping it will be shared as much as possible so that we can track them down."
