In a special agreement announced Monday between the Dental Association and Federation of Austrian Social Security Institutions, around 30,000 Austrian children with malformed teeth will receive free dental care to correct the problem, including the use of dental braces.

The new benefit, which is estimated to cost around 80 million per year, will allow children under 18 with crooked teeth to receive a free set of braces until the problem is corrected.

The measures should be in place from July 1st, and are expected to affect up to 30,000 children.

Up to 180 orthodontists around Austria will be contracted through a tendering process to undertake the treatments, which should help correct most of the dental deformities commonly seen in children in the country.
