An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 was recorded in the skiing area of Nassfeld in southern Carinthia in the early hours of Friday morning.

A report from the Austrian Seismological Service of the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics reported that the quake took place at 01.45 and was clearly felt in southern Carinthia, the region which borders Italy.

A quake of this strength could result in isolated minor damage, the report said.

The Austrian Seismological Service has asked anyone affected by the quake to fill out a form on their homepage or write to them describing their experience.
