Beating wife 'normal' says Vienna man

Police arrested an abusive and violent husband in Vienna's eighth district on Friday, after his wife complained that she had been regularly beaten by him.
The young woman had again been beaten recently by her husband. When she tried to talk to a counseling centre about the abuse, he threatened her again with another beating.
Around 1 p.m. on Friday, she decided to call the police.
She showed the police the injuries she had sustained in the past few days.
Police arrested her husband, who confessed that he had indeed beaten his wife, saying "It's normal to beat your wife."
His wife was sent to a care facility for battered women.
