Bomb threat closes Vienna shopping centre

A bomb threat closed Vienna’s busy Millennium City shopping centre late on Tuesday morning after a man threatened to kidnap his own child and said he had explosives on him.
A bomb disposal squad was sent to the shopping centre, which had to be temporarily evacuated.
A police spokesperson told the Austrian Press Agency that a man threatened to kidnap his own child in the children’s play area at around 10:30am. He said that he had an explosive device.
He was arrested shortly after by armed police. Explosives experts searched the shopping centre for an hour but didn’t find any explosives. The child was unharmed.
Around 900 people were evacuated and the nearby Handelskai U6 U-Bahn station was closed for about an hour.
