A man has attacked and seriously injured his wife with a hammer in Vienna’s expensive Döbling district.

The 48-year-old woman was left with head injuries after a domestic dispute in which the couple’s 15-year-old daughter tried to intervene.

The 50-year-old man called the ambulance and the police himself. He was arrested and his wife was taken to hospital.

The incident occurred on Friday morning around 7.45 am at an apartment in Armbrustergasse. It’s not clear why the man attacked his wife.
