The Greens won around 17 percent of votes , its best ever result in Vorarlberg, and the ÖVP went down nine percentage points with around 42 percent of votes.
On Friday party leaders Markus Wallner (ÖVP) and Johannes Rauch (Greens) said they felt confident that they could work together to develop and implement future projects for the province. They added that a new government should be in place by October 15th.
Wallner made it clear that he would not hold parallel negotiations with the FPÖ, and said that he and FPÖ leader Dieter Egger had already communicated. The right-wing FPÖ got just over 23 percent of votes.
