Terrorism alert protocols were immediately activated, which led to the closing of the station.

Trains from the U1 and U3 were instructed to bypass the station, while all passengers were evacuated.

Police spokesman Thomas Keiblinger explained that a bomb disposal squad was called in, who made sure that the luggage was safe.

After the operation, the station was made fully operational again by 12:30 pm, as confirmed by a Tweet from Wiener Linien.
