Salzburg pot grower betrayed by smell
A 29-year-old man is under arrest today after police raided his Salzburg apartment, and found 14 cannabis plants under cultivation, as well as a small amount resting on a coffee table.
The apartment in Aigen - one of Salzburg's wealthiest districts - was visited on Friday after police were informed of a strong smell of the pungent herb emanating from the windows at the back of the building.
In addition to the marijuana on the coffee table, police from the street crime unit found a so-called growbox with 14 cannabis plants, each around 60 cm in height.
According to a press release issued on Saturday, the 29-year-old man has claimed that the herbs are only for his personal use. He has been referred to the Salzburg state prosecutor for further action.
