The woman immediately called the police, who arrived within 10 minutes in the small town of Pielachtal near St. Pölten in Lower Austria.
"Please come quickly, there's a madman or an intruder on my roof wearing only a pair of socks. He's knocking with a broom against my window", she explained to the police emergency operator.
Officers quickly brought the drunken 18-year-old man down from the roof.
The incoherent young man explained "I was cold, so I knocked to get in."
It soon became apparent that the young man was somewhat inebriated, as confirmed by his friends who were watching nearby.
The group had been on a pub crawl, and were heading home when the young man mistook the house for his parents' home. He had taken off all his clothes, and climbed onto the roof.
His parents were able to persuade their neighbour not to press charges.
