Police responded swiftly to reports of yet another naked woman wandering around the streets of Vienna, but were unable to catch her in the act.

Fortunately, The Local has obtained a video of the alleged streaker, and can confirm that it appears that she is indeed fully naked, and that several significant Viennese locations were recognizable in the background.

With the hot weather in August, and the tendency for Austrians to doff their clothes at the slightest hint of a beach holiday, it hasn't been surprising that some folks have been spotted going about their business without textiles.

The first hints of this apparent new trend arrived at the beginning of July, when two British tourists awoke to find a naked man in their hotel room.

At the beginning of August, police in Pernitz in Lower Austria were finally able to catch up with a mysterious naked bicyclist.  She turned out to be a local 53-year-old engineer with a penchant for nudism.

Police warned her that she potentially faced a fine of €1,000 if she continued to parade around nude - the woman explained that she just felt more comfortable without clothes on in the hot weather.

Next came a naked dog walker, also in the town of Pernitz.  The witness who snapped his picture said that the naked man was friendly and respectful. “He walked past, greeted us, and went on his way”, he said.

Further naked hi-jinks occurred on Tuesday, when seven animal rights protestors lay naked inside plastic packaging in the main square in front of Vienna's St. Stephen's cathedral.  They were attempting to raise awareness of the use of animals for meat.

On Wednesday, the latest in the current streak of Austrian nudists was identified as a 25-year-old model called Mina, who was spotted wandering around Vienna's streets and parks, wearing nothing more than a broad smile, and a white hat.

Locations she visited include the Volksgarten park, Karlsplatz, St. Stephens square, and top shopping destination The Graben, none of which are designated as a "Frei-Körper-Kultur" (FKK) or nudist zone.

Story continues below…

Vienna has plenty of FKK beaches along the river which welcome textile-free visitors, but nudity in the inner city and suburbs is generally unwelcome.

A witness was heard to call out to her, saying "Alright! Congratulations on being so pretty."

Police have taken a dim view of the latest incident of public nudity, saying that she faces a fine of €700 for public indecency.
