Animal rights activists stage naked protest

Seven activists from the Association against Animal Factories held a naked protest in central Vienna on Tuesday, packed into oversized meat trays in front of St Stephen’s Cathedral.
“According to the Austrian law animals are classed as things. This means that their value is only measured by how much profit can be squeezed from their carcasses,” campaign manager Yvonne Zinkl said.
Just like humans, animals are living beings, Zinkl said, and urged consumers to think more carefully the next time they buy meat from a supermarket.
The Association against Animal Factories (Verein gegen Tierfabriken) is an organization dedicated to reducing and preventing the exploitation and abuse of animals.
