Burgenland 'under water' after severe storm

Austria's easternmost state of Burgenland was hit by severe flooding after violent thunderstorms and prolonged heavy rain on Wednesday night.
"On Thursday morning there were still 342 storm-related operations," a spokesman for the state’s security centre (LSZ) told the APA press agency.
Almost the whole province was "virtually under water."
The storm began at around 5:00pm and didn’t stop until around 10:30pm. The LSZ had to call in extra staff.
The north of Burgenland was especially affected by the bad weather. In the district of Neusiedl am See and Podersdorf fire brigades are still at work.
Basements were flooded and roads were blocked. Fortunately no one was injured.
