Around 11,000 people gathered in central Vienna on Sunday to demonstrate against Israeli attacks on Gaza. According to the police the demonstration remained peaceful.

Only one woman was arrested, and then released.

Due to the high temperatures several demonstrators collapsed. This might have happened as many of the demonstrators were Muslims who were not drinking water because of the Ramadan fast.

The demonstration was organised by the Union of European-Turkish Democrats (UETD), which is considered to be the extended arm of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Justice and Development Party (AKP).

The UETD said that they wanted to set an example against "the murders and the oppression in Palestine".

There were also demonstrations in Graz and Linz supporting the people in Gaza. According to the police they were both attended by 500 to 600 people and remained peaceful.
