Meth murderer sentenced to 20 years

A 37-year-old man who beat his step-father to death with a heavy wooden bench was sentenced on Thursday in the Linz Regional Court to 20 years in prison.
Based on his long history of violence, and the aggravated cruelty of the act, the court felt that the sentence was appropriate.
In mitigation, the court noted that the accused had made a full confession, but did not accept that the defendant was temporarily insane while under the influence of crystal meth.
Further, the court held that allegations of years of abuse by the victim were not supported by any evidence.
