Lucky escape for lightning strike boy
A teenager was knocked from a roof by a lightning bolt during a thunder storm in the Inn Valley on Wednesday night.
The 15-year-old was standing on a garage roof making a phone call at around 10.30pm. A few metres away from him a bolt of lightning struck and the boy fell four feet from the roof to the ground.
The friend he had been phoning realised something had happened and called the police. The boy was taken to hospital in Innsbruck but was not seriously injured.
There were also severe thunderstorms and heavy rain in Salzburg. A family of four travelling in a car were hit by a mudslide. Several roads had to be closed because of landslides.
