Elderly man shoots wife and then himself
An elderly couple have been found dead in a house in Morzg, Salzburg. The bodies of an 89-year-old man and his 69-year-old wife were found on Tuesday afternoon.
Police believe the man shot his wife first and then turned the gun on himself.
Neighbours had called the police because they had not seen the couple for a long time. Police then found the bodies in the first floor of the house.
An autopsy will be carried out on Wednesday.
The couple’s house was locked, and police do not think anyone else was involved in the murder. Both the man and woman had gunshot wounds, which police believe caused their deaths.
The gun was found next to the husband’s body. No suicide note was found.
Police are currently investigating and will be speaking to the couple’s neighbours and relatives.
