According to Fischer's spokesman Bruno Aigner, Poroshenko said he hoped Austria and Ukraine would continue to cooperate well with each other.

Fischer, who was one of many guests of state at the inauguration, said that it was an "impressive ceremony".

According to Aigner, the Austrian president emphasised that his Ukrainian counterpart had held part of his inauguration speech in Russian. Poroshenko was aiming for a peaceful, stable and united Ukraine, said Fischer.
