A doctor from Carinthia has been sentenced to eight months in prison after attacking police officers on several different occasions.

In 2011, he rammed a pen into the neck of a policeman. In January, the doctor went after a traffic warden with a knife.

"When he comes into conflict with police, something flips in my client," his lawyer, Hans Gradischnig said.

The psychiatric report states that "there is a suspicion of a paranoid personality disorder, which relates mainly to his relationship with the police,” reports the Heute paper.

After completing his prison sentence the doctor must undergo therapy.
