Flood warnings across Austria

Flood warnings have been issued for Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Styria.
Relentless heavy rain in Lower Austria has led to flooding, particularly in the south of the province. The Triesting, Pielach and Traisen rivers have already burst their banks.
The small town of Frankenfels, in Lower Austria, has been cut off by flooding. The local fire department has deployed 40 men to deal with the floods, and three schools have been shut.
Some 2,100 firemen have been dispatched to the districts of Lilienfeld, St. Pölten, Neunkirchen, Wiener Neustadt and Scheibbs.
In some places it has rained more than 100 litres per square meter, flooding cellars.
However, so far rain levels have not been high enough to flood the Danube.
The district of Amstetten has been hit by floods and landslides, and some roads have been blocked.
Burgenland has also had to call on around 40 fire brigades, mainly to pump water from flooded cellars.
