Feeling unwell? Take a trip to your local petrol station, because the doctor will be there.

We've all done it - filled up a tank of petrol in the car, then popped in to the shop for a few cold drinks and snacks. But now the service station offers so much more, with a very experienced doctor on call.

Dr Dieter Zakel (47), pioneer of 360 degree medicine, has opened a medical practice in the offices of a Viennese petrol station.

Dr Zakel is a GP, and is fully qualified in specialized areas of medicine, including anaesthesiology, critical care medicine, blood group serology and transfusion medicine. He's also worked as a senior emergency physician, clinical trial controller and military surgeon.

Now he's brought his considerable skills to the forecourt of an ENI petrol station in Vienna-Döbling, where customers in a hurry can "drive in", and have a quick consultation.

Naturally, the doctor will give priority to first-aid cases, but try not to bleed all over the floor. (If it's that serious, maybe you should go to a hospital?)

Following his own principles of 360 degree medicine, Dr Zakel rapidly handles medical needs, writes any necessary prescriptions, and still gives you time to grab a quick breakfast and a coffee from the snack bar before heading in to the office.

With his 25 years of experience, you might not get the personalized service of a regular GP's practice, but if you've got something wrong with you, he's probably seen it before.

Visit the doctor at Krottenbachstrasse 32 in Vienna's 19th district - and have your tyre pressure and blood pressure checked at the same time.
