Police fire shots to stop drug suspect
On Wednesday afternoon, police patrolling the Danube Island in Vienna fired warning shots to force a drug suspect whom they were chasing to stop fleeing arrest.
Police were attempting to apprehend the suspect for a search around 14:20 when he attempted to flee from the officers, according to a report in the Austrian news daily, Heute.
After repeated verbal warnings, officers made the decision to deploy their service weapons, with at least one of them firing several warning shots above the suspect's head.
The suspect then halted his flight, and was arrested and searched by members of the Drug Task Force.
A small quantity of narcotics was found on the man.
