Teen sentenced for praising Isis
A 17-year-old from Lower Austria has received an 18-month conditional prison sentence for glorifying terrorist acts carried out by Isis - the Islamist group also known as Islamic State.
The trial was held behind closed doors in St. Pölten due to the defendant's age.
The young man told the judge that he had converted to Islam because he felt his life was dreary and meaningless. He then became radicalized and began praising terrorist acts carried out by Isis on his WhatsApp and Facebook accounts.
The verdict is not final and can still be appealed.
