German skier dies on Salzburg mountain
A 24-year-old German man from Bavaria died on Saturday morning while skiing the slopes of Schönalmbahn, in the Untertauern valley near Salzburg.
The accident occurred shortly after 10a.m. The man was skiing with his uncle, when he launched himself off a small hill a distance of several meters. As a result of the jump, the skier lost control, cartwheeled several times then crashed off the snow-covered slopes into a trench, where he was found motionless, according to police. His uncle and several other skiers moved immediately to render first aid. Paramedics were soon on the scene, but were unable to revive him due to serious injuries.
