Austria offers aid to Ukrainian IDPs
Austria has offered a total of €700,000 to assist Ukrainians internally displaced by conflict within their war-torn country.
Foreign Secretary Sebastian Kurz visited Kiev on Monday where he met with Petro Poroshenko.
The Ukrainian President requested humanitarian aid from Austria to help with the 260,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) currently residing in the country.
Austria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the Austrian Press Agency (APA) on Tuesday that €500,000 will be made available for Ukrainian IDPs from the disaster fund for major emergencies abroad, with a further €200,000 to come from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
The disaster fund money will offer "on the spot help where necessary", while the ADA funds will be used for specific projects, including the provision of food, drinking water, sanitation and shelter for up to 5,000 people.
